HOME: HOUSE TOUR (PART ONE)

About a month back I posted that I was going to film a house tour. I did film one and then I realised just how much personal stuff was included so I thought I would leave that (how many of you really want to see my pantry? Exactly - I don't even want to see it!) and so here are the best bits of my house. I have to admit that some of the photos are better quality than others - purely because one day I took photos when it was reasonably sunny and the next it was pouring with rain.

Also, I want to make a confession: my house isn't usually this tidy looking. This is how it looks when I have cleaned before Dave comes home from work. He's like Taz when he walks through the door. Suddenly the whole place is a shambles again and its a daily battle to make him clean up after himself. I hope you like what you see anyway. Mi casa, sous casa and all that jazz. Here's the first installment of a peek into my world...

Come on in - the kettle is on and the cats are mostly friendly...

KITCHEN

People say that kitchens are the hearts of houses. I wouldn't exactly agree with them as I tend to avoid spending time in my kitchen as much as possible unless I'm cooking. However, I've tried to make it a fun room with quirky bits and bobs.

Funny story: after an afternoon of hyped up activity with Lisa we watched Madagascar and ended up nicknaming ourselves Julian and Maurice. I dug out my old National Geographic magazine and cut out this picture of a Lemur, making a sign to stick into the window panel of my front door. Dave came home to that in his face as he tried to open the door. He just laughed at me and said we'd never afford it. However, a couple of days later a neighbour asked when we were going on holiday and if we wanted the cats watching. I could have died laughing.

LIVING ROOM

This should be called Dave's room as this is where he is most likely to be found - awake or asleep. He falls asleep on the sofa a lot. The cats have their own sofa but both prefer using ours which is highly irritating. There is a lot of random stuff in this room - mostly because storage is a bit of a nightmare in a small house like ours and Dave is too lazy to put things on the walls most of the time.

The white paper on the fire place is my make-shift studio back-ground for the product photos on this blog. Pretty thrifty-nifty, eh? I like to think so anyway. That peace lily hasn't actually flowered since I bought it so I don't think it's very happy but I will be re-potting it soon enough.

I always have candles lit as often as I can when I'm at home. I love the glow of them and I have so many candle holders that it's a shame to let them go to waste.

So that was the more interesting parts of downstairs... haha, well I hope it's interesting to someone other than me! Part two will be about upstairs. If you see anything on these pictures you think I should blog about then please let me know...

    1. Thank you :) I used to have a flat but that was too small for us - do you have a flat or apartment if you don't have a house? xxx

    1. Haha yeah - half the stuff I want to do wouldn't be acceptable with kids in tow really. I couldn't take a baby up a mountain in Jamaica for coffee really :| thank you for saying it's homely :) xxx

  7. Lovely, you've made it look so homely! I especially love your living room and all the candles by the fireplace...and of course, your lemur sign, haha.
I enjoyed reading your bucket list - I feel like there are a million and one things I want to squeeze in before having sprogs too but given the amount it would cost I might have to scale it back a bit, ha. Are you able to cross any of them off yet? I could cross off number 12, one of the perks of having a Brazilian hubby ;) I'd love to go on safari with the Masai too, that would be ah-mazing.

    1. I haven't been able to cross any off yet but I'm hoping to start next year. A lot of the things that I want to do I wouldn't be able to if I had children so that's why it's pre-kids! Also I am very jealous that you got to do number 12 - that must have been amazing! *green eyed* haha! Yup Safari with Masai would be mind-blowing - I just have to convince Dave that it's a good idea first :) xxx

  9. Your house is lovely, it seems very homely and personal to you! :-) I love how your cats have your own sofa - when I'm old enough to have my own house I want my pets to have their own mini house in the garden haha! xx
