REVIEW: VIVO MATTE LIPSTICK IN 'PUCKER RED'

I love a good lipstick - who doesn't? And if it's a bargain then it's even better. Step forward Vivo Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in 'Pucker Red'. Another raspberry red to add to my expanding collection of lip colours that will be perfect for autumn.

First things first, the packaging is standard fare for a brand as budget as Vivo but the silver and black does look quite sleek. I like that the casing isn't a perfectly cylindrical too - it makes it feel like more thought has gone into it somehow.

The bullet is shaped to have a curve at the top - making for an easy and even application straight from the tube. I don't feel like I need to get the lip brush out for this. There's a sweet scent to it, like vanilla but slightly more potent and synthetic. It's quite pleasant in my opinion - it's not as sickly as some lip products can be which is a bonus. It's actually really pigmented and doesn't contain any shimmer or glitter. Although it says 'matte' it gives a glossy finish when first applied and therefore I feel like I need to blot to get a truly matte finish. 

I love that it stains my lips so that, whilst I wear it down throughout the course of the day, it isn't as obvious that it needs a top-up. I can eat, drink and talk (oh I can talk) comfortably without any transfer to my teeth or much transfer to my many coffee cups.

The colour of 'Pucker Red' is a beautiful deep raspberry pink that applies a little lighter than the bullet. It's one of those colours that can easily take my look from day to evening, summer to autumn and I think I'll get a lot of use out of it. As far as bleeding goes, I've only found that it does this if I apply quickly and without care - but I find a lot of my lipsticks do this so this isn't something I'm much bothered about.

Would I recommend it? Yes. I think if you like your budget buys or happen to be watching the pennies then Vivo Cosmetics have the perfect solution for you in their line. There's 6 matte shades to choose from - from this raspberry red to a popping coral orange and onto a soft nude.
