WHAT I WORE: THE £5 PRIMARK DRESS

Primark_£5_Dress

PLAIN GREEN SKATER DRESS – PRIMARK - £5.00
BLACK LONG SLEEVED CARDIGAN – NEWLOOK - £12.99
ADJUSTABLE BLACK WAIST BELT WITH GOLD ROSE DETAIL – NEW LOOK (CAME WITH A DRESS)
BLACK CHUNKY HEEL ANKLE BOOTS WITH BUCKLE DETAIL – PRIMARK - £18.00

I’ve been trying to get some more ‘girlie’ into my wardrobe. I don’t wear skirts and dresses as much as I could. I rarely wear them in fact. I’ve just never felt comfortable in them unless there is a specific reason to wear one – a special occasion, evening out, some kind of fancy meal. I love and live in jeans - especially in the colder weather. Primark have launched a collection of dresses that are only £5 though and whilst they’re not made with the thickest of materials they are fairly well put together. I opted for this green skater style because I’m in love with anything green at the moment. It’s plain so I can dress it up or keep it casual depending on how I feel but here I've kept it super casual. The only thing is that its very short on me – I can’t bend over without flashing someone. Never a good thing. Bear in mind though that I am 6ft tall so obviously this won’t be the case for anyone that’s an average height - it would probably be a lovely (and respectable) just-above-the-knee length for most.

With the weather being colder I've thrown a black long sleeved cardigan over the top as the dress is short sleeved. It’s simple with pockets and I like to think it streamlines the whole look a bit more as well as keeping me a little bit warmer than simply wearing the dress on it's own would. I’ve just thrown an old black belt around it to give it some detail at the waist.  I’ve left my legs bare for this photo but thick black tights would look good with this dress too and would possibly be the more 'common sense' option considering the frosts we've been having. Apologies for the bright white legs – I don’t tan often (never naturally anyway) and therefore I tend to look paler than pale most of the year. I’ve teamed my new ankle boots with the look (I’ll be honest I’m teaming them with absolutely everything at the moment because I’m ecstatic to have found a pair that fit me well for so cheap) because it’s autumn but I think some wedges in summer would look great or even some slipper shoes if I wanted to make it extra casual.

Have you bought one of the £5 dresses from Primark yet?

  1. I bought one of these for my sister and I know she gets loads of wear from it, with leggings and boots I think for day-to-day college wear. I think they're a great bargain.

    1. They do fit really well! I think if I can get one that's a bit longer then I'll be tempted to pick one up in another colour! xxx
