TAG: LIPSTICK

I’ve seen this tag floating about for a while on YouTube and on blogs and whilst my camera is out of action I thought I’d sit down and write it out. I really love tags like this because I always find them interesting to read. Everyone’s answers are so different. This tag was created by Maxi who writes The Lipstick Blog.

HOW MANY LIPSTICKS DO YOU OWN?

I thought I had loads more than I actually have but I recently had a clear out and gave some away, chunked some out or put them aside for my niece to play with. I now have a total of 52 which is quite a lot but I do wear them all so I guess that makes it acceptable.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST EVER LIPSTICK?

Unfortunately I don’t have it anymore although I wish I did for sentimental reasons. It was in a palette that I was bought as a teenager. It was purple and glittery and I wore it to a school disco. I thought I looked amazing – I certainly felt amazing anyway – although I look back now and cringe.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BRAND FOR LIPSTICK?

For high end lipstick I think it’s got to be Dior purely because the formulas are amazing: pigmented, smooth, long wearing and hydrating. Each  lipstick costs over £25 though so obviously they’re a evry rare treat. For drugstore I would go with Rimmel purely because they’re on fire with their lip products this year. Again the formula is always really good with great pigmentation and durability.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST WORN LIPSTICK?

I have Estee Lauder’s Pure Colour Lipstick in ‘Brilliantly Bare’ which is by far the most worn. It’s a nude with glitter that I was obsessed with straight after I bought it because someone told me it looked good on me. It didn’t – it looked like frosted concealer lips which doesn’t look good on anyone. I wore it solidly for a month and reapplied even when it really didn’t need it. I still wear it now and then but I apply it much more subtly.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FINISH?

If I want to make my lips a statement then I go for Matte finishes every time. I just look the way they look. For day-to-day I always choose a sheer shade or a lustre because they’re more flattering and look more natural for work.

WHAT WAS THE LAST LIPSTICK YOU BOUGHT?

I bought the whole collection of MUA Matte finish lipsticks. They were £1 each so I thought ‘Why not?’ and got them all. I wear some shades more than others but I do wear them all. I really like them.

HOW MANY LIP PRODUCTS DO YOU CURRENTLY HAVE IN YOUR BAG? (INCLUDING GLOSSES AND BALMS)

I change up my lipstick every day unless I’m completely in love with something so I tend to carry the lipstick I’m wearing that day. I also keep a balm handy just in case. I think two lip products is enough – in the past I would carry 5 or 6 but it became a bit of a chore to lug so many things about and if the weather was warm they’d all melt.

WHAT LIPSTICK DO YOU USE TO ROCK A RED LIP?

I think this very much depends on the look I’m going for. I don’t have a real ‘go-to’ although I do love the Kate Moss Rimmel Matte Lipstick in 107 very much. That’s probably my most used out of my top red lipsticks.

HOW DO YOU STORE YOUR LIPSTICKS?

I just used to throw them in a drawer but recently I’ve started to re-vamp my makeup storage. I now have three sets of acrylic holders which cost me £2.99 from eBay. I think these are quite popular if you can’t afford the real deal from Muji and they look good. I’ll be doing a post/video on my new makeup storage and makeup collection in the new year when it’s all finished so watch out for that if you’re interested.

WHAT LIP PRODUCTS ARE YOU CURRENTLY LUSTING AFTER?

I really want to try an Urban Decay lipstick but I can’t decide which colour to get because if I’m spending that much money I want something that is definitely going to get some use. I’ve always wanted a Tom Ford lipstick too but, again, it would have to be a colour I wear a lot to justify spending. I’d like to some shades from YSL and Chanel too.
