EMPTIES #5

I usually talk about the products that I've used up in a video format as I think it's easier to do it that way but my microphone on my phone (which I usually use to film) has been messing up. Excuses aside here are my most recent empties and my thoughts on them.

L'OREAL ELVIVE SMOOTH-INTENSE ANTI FRIZZ SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER FOR DRY, FRIZZY REBELLIOUS HAIR (RRP £3.99 EACH)
As with a lot of my shampoo and conditioner choices, I picked this duo up when they were on offer in the supermarket. I liked them - they cleaned and conditioned my hair, made it feel soft and did smooth them out but for me they weren't anything particularly special. I would repurchase but I don't think they're anything to rave about particularly.

IMPULSE BODY SPRAYS IN 'INTO GLAMOUR' AND 'TEMPTATION' (RRP £1.99 EACH)
Both of these body sprays smelt really sweet and fake. I only use them for giving myself a quick freshen when I'm at work or out and about to save on using up expensive perfume. They do their job but do leave a white cast on my clothes if I spray too close to my body. Meh. A body spray is a body spray really no matter which brand it comes from.

APIVITA EXPRESS BEAUTY GREEN CLAY MASK* (RRP £3.00 FOR 2 SACHETS)
I'm a massive fan of Apivita but I personally feel like they have better masks available in this range. Clay masks are predominately meant for oily skin types and as I have combination I only used this down my T-Zone. It did the job and cleaned out my pores, left my skin soft and didn't break me out.

SURE MAXIMUM PROTECTION ANTI-PERSPIRANT STICK (RRP £5.00)
Considering how expensive this is in comparison to other brands it doesn't last very long (at least not with me anyway) so I actually have two of these in my empties. The scents are really inoffensive and they don't leave those dreaded yellow patches underneath the arms. They do keep you feeling extra dry too. I'll repurchase as I have many times before because it's the best thing I've found for under my arms.

BLISS 'THAT'S INCREDI-PEEL'* (RRP £39.00 FOR A BOX OF 30)
I've never used Glycolic Acid on my face before and whilst I was curious about it I was also really anxious too. It's a pad that you simply swipe over your face once you've cleansed and don't moisture afterwards. It tingled a lot but if you have a low pain thresh hold or are particularly sensitive I think you'd do well to stay well away from these as they could really sting. I had to use SPF on my face for a few days afterwards because it makes the skin sensitive to sunlight. There will be a full review of these pads coming soon no doubt.

BATISTE DRY SHAMPOO IN PAISLEY* (RRP £2.99)
Batiste is one of those products that I always repurchase. The scent of the Paisley can is quite light but musky. It's white cast so obviously if you don't brush it out properly it will make you look grey but it does leave my hair looking cleaner and smelling better which is all I want from a dry shampoo.

JOHNSON'S BABY SOOTHING NATURALS BODY LOTION (RRP £3.10)
I've had this product so long that the packaging has changed since I bought it. I love it - it has a really calming scent and it sinks in quickly. There isn't much else to say about it as I've written about it before and I have no doubt that you all know what Johnson's products are like. I will repurchase in the future.

ELEMIS SKIN CLEAR PURIFYING FACE WASH* AND MATTIFYING MOISTURISER* (AS PART OF THIS SET)
I do like this little duo and they were a good couple of products to try out. It's taken me a while to use them up even though they're tiny sample sizes because I have other cleansers and moisturisers that I prefer to them but if you're looking for something that really will clean every pore than I recommend these. I wouldn't repurchase them but I wouldn't mind being given them as a gift. The only thing that bugs me is the scent of them - they're quite herbal so sometimes that can put me off reaching for them.

THE BODY SHOP PURIFYING HAND CREAM (RRP £5.00)
I've already repurchased this twice now - I fly through it because I get such dry hands working with boxes all day. I really like the scent - it's such a clean and non-offensive scent. It also manages to mask any unpleasent odours on the hands too which is a bonus if, like me, you chop a lot of onions and garlic for your food. My hands absorb it super fast and it does hydrate them well. I love it.

MAYBELLINE MASTER SHAPE BROW DRAMA PENCIL IN 'SOFT BROWN' (RRP £2.99)
I've already repurchased this. Sometimes pencils for eyebrows can be more red-toned but this is just a flat neutral brown that I find really easy to use. I much prefer using a pencil over powder now. The spooly at the end of the pencil also comes in super useful for shaping the brows and evenly distributing the product.

DIRTY WORKS BUFF YOUR STUFF BODY SCRUB (RRP £4.29)
This was a bit of a let down to be honest. The scrub particles were so few and far between that it simply felt like I was using a dirty shower gel more than a scrub. The scent was a little generic - just like a light floral soap - and the 'whipped' texture of the product felt like I had to use more to get the same effect I would have gotten from a proper body scrub. I'll pass on buying it again.

CHARLES WORTHINGTON SALON AT HOME STRENGTH AND REPAIR LONGER AND STRONGER HAIR MASK (RRP £5.99)
I really love this hair mask. I saw a visible difference in my hair after using it and I think, with all the hair masks that I use, that really is something. It smells gorgeous, leaves my hair soft, shiny and more healthy looking. I'm definitely repurchasing this and can't recommend it highly enough.

What have you used up recently?

  1. I've tried to find that Dirty Works stuff for ages now but I can't find it anywhere! At least I will know what to avoid when I do hopefully find it :) I love Impulse, I feel like it reminds me off what I used to wear when I was younger!
