PICKS: MY TOP 5 HIGHLIGHTERS 2012

I love highlighters - they are an essential part of my every day look. Not so much for the contouring aspect but for the fact that I am constantly in search of perfect radiant skin, and whilst I'm working on it I can cheat a little with a cosmetic product. Especially now the drab weather and central heated places are draining skin of any luminosity I am reaching for my stash more than ever. So here, in no particular order, are the highlighters that I am abusing this autumn and winter:

CHRISTIAN DIOR SKINFLASH
This was the first highlighter that I ever bought for myself. I love it - it is definitely one of my favourites. It's a cream formula that is applied by a brush ended pen. It's easy to blend, accompanies almost any look perfectly and genuinely does give a beautiful dewy finish to the skin. RRP £26.00. Purchase here.

YVES ST LAURENT TOUCHE ECLAT
This was the prize that I won from a Vogue competition marking the 20th anniversary of this cult beauty classic. It's a peachy pink colour that blends easily, catching light effectively and effortlessly. It can also be used as a concealer should I need to cover some serious black baggage. RRP £25.00. Purchase here.

BENEFIT HIGHBEAM
If you love pink then this is the highlighter for you. Another cream formula again but this time application comes is the form of a brush (akin to a nail varnish brush) that can be dabbed onto the skin and then blended in. This product looks fabulous with a hot pink blusher and gives the skin a sparkle as a well as luminosity. Benefit do several versions of this class: SunBeam and MoonBeam being two of the most talked about recently. RRP £18.50. Purchase here.

MAKEBELIEVE HIGHLIGHTER
This was a sample that I received in this month's SheSaidBeauty box that I have taken to using very frequently. I am, in fact, participating in a love affair with it. It's a cream formula but comes from a palette which makes it easy applicable by brush or finger. It alleges to be a 'Celestial Pink' colour but I find it to be a  light gold-peach. It was originally designed to compliment the Makebelieve line of fake-tan but as a girl that is paler than pale I can safely assure you that it suits everyone - summer colour or not. This is the most affordable of all of the highlighters I am showcasing here - and is definitely worth the purchase. RRP £7.50. Purchase here.

ESTEE LAUDER SHIMMER PALETTE
Estee Lauder's alternative to the famed Dior Rose Diamond does not disappoint. Although this can be used as a blush (if applied heavily to darken the colour) it makes a great powder highlighter as it's subtle and not overtly shimmery when on the skin. The choice of tonal colours in the palette makes it a great investment for anyone who (like me) loves their highlighters. RRP £30.00. Purchase here.

  6. I absolutely adore highlighters, I think they were the most beautiful makeup product to have been created. My favourite is - you've guessed it - the Mac MSF in Soft and Gentle, but I also really enjoy Hi-Beam and I have a lovely liquid highlighter from Clinique (can't remember the name, sorry!)
I've now got my eye on that pretty Estee Lauder one, as I am a sucker for anything that looks beautiful in the pan!
