The Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm is one of those products that has been doing the rounds among bloggers for some time now. Although I was intrigued by it the price tag put me off somewhat. It's hefty and I just don't have the funds to pay out for something that I a) might not like and b) might not agree with my skin. I saw a sample pot on sale on eBay for a third of the price so I thought 'Why not?' and purchased. This is probably the only time I've bought a sample off eBay. I don't tend to trust eBay when it comes to beauty products - there are so many sellers that sell rip-offs.

I was so excited for it to arrive that as soon as the postman knocked on the door I grabbed it and ran upstairs to wash my face.

The packaging is really luxurious and elegant, although I've heard that the product tends to leak after a while and create a mess. I haven't experienced this myself so maybe it's only a fault with some of the pots? I can't comment anyway. Inside is housed a thick, rich balm that, at first glance, just looks like soft vaseline. A small amount is all that's needed, literally the size of my finger tip, to do my whole face once I've added the smallest amount of hot water to it.

It smells beautiful - slightly herbal with a hint of citrus - but not strong. It's perfect if you hate things that smell overpowering because this really isn't.

Once on the skin the balm melts into an oil which is really soft and easy to rub across the skin. I circle it into my skin to give a really thorough cleanse whilst also trying to give my face a little bit of a massage too. Then, using a hot flannel, I polish it off. The result is cleansed, plump, soft skin that doesn't have the awful tight feeling some cleansers give. I use this product purely at night as it's very expensive and I want it to last, but also because it cuts through make up like nothing I've ever used before.

After using it for nearly three weeks now my skin has never felt softer or smoother to be honest. My blemishes fade more quickly when they first arrive (if they arrive at all now) and I'm confident that it could really be the difference for me between 'meh' skin and 'great' skin. I'm devastated that it's about to run out on me. I need a replacement as soon as possible.

Would I recommend it? Yes. Most definitely.

Reading up on the Emma Hardie website the balm can also be used as an all-purpose balm for dry patches and lips, as well as a soothing face mask if left on for ten minutes. I haven't tried any of these ways to use it yet but as soon as I have the full sized pot I will be.

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm is available online from various retailers. Due to popularity of the product many places are sold out at the moment. RRP: £34 per 100ml.
