REVIEW: ESTEE LAUDER ADVANCED NIGHT REPAIR EYE SYNCHRONIZED COMPLEX

I've had a couple of these little sample pots of Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex knocking around my stash for months and months now. They're common free-gift-with-purchase fodder when it comes to Estee Lauder freebies. Having suffered such a strange reaction to the Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream, and having never used this eye gel for a continued period before, I was reluctant to see what would happen. I gave it a go anyway and I'm really glad that I did.

This is a gel more than a cream. It isn't fragranced and sinks in very quickly when patted onto the brow bone and under the eye (I never put a product like this directly onto the lids of my eyes). It's quite cooling - even more so if kept in the fridge so that it de-puffs my eye-bags first thing in the morning.

I have definitely noticed an improvement in my eye area over the course of using this (roughly 10 days so far). It's brightened and lifted any uneven skin tone around my eyes. It also seems to have stopped my eyes from feeling dry, especially recently with all of the blustery weather the UK has been enduring recently.

I really like it but would I recommend it? The RRP is £37.00 for 15ml which is very expensive... I would say take advantage of the FGWP offers when they're available and get this as an added extra. Even though it's meant to be used day and night a little goes a long long way and I can't see myself running out of this any time soon - at least not until my next bout of Estee Lauder purchases.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex is available at Estee Lauder counters across the UK and online.

VIDEO: BIRTHDAY HAUL

Hello everyone!

I disappeared for a few days, didn't I? I just didn't have the time to blog this week unfortunately! It was my birthday on Wednesday and the day before that I was running about like a headless chicken trying to get everything sorted. I don't have much of an excuse because I could have scheduled some things in but I simply haven't been able to write.

My birthday was great (apart from a little cry when I thought my brothers had completely forgotten what day it was - and two still haven't been in contact at all yet!) and now I am enjoying a relaxing day off, playing with all of my new things and have been filming a YouTube video where I can show you all what I have received! I have been very spoiled and I am very appreciative to everyone that wished me a Happy Birthday on Twitter too! You were all so lovely and made my day so thank you very much!

This video is something silly like 30 minutes long because I've rambled on and on... Watch for the postman too! He manages to frighten the life out of me! I suggest you skip through anything you find boring... I bored myself watching it back so I won't be offended!

Anyway the normal posting schedule is now in place again so I will see you all tomorrow for some more reviews and general chit chat!

BOOK: THE ULTIMATE TRAVEL BOOK

I want to travel. I want to see the world. I want to write about it. I've been to a fair few places in my life so far already and that is something I have been very privileged to have done. So far I have been to France, Holland, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Morocco and around the United Kingdom.

Having done most of Eastern Europe and touched down on the African Continent I am now hankering for adventures a little further afield. It's just that it takes money to do all of these things. My step-mother, Rach, told me she would look after everything here at home if I happened to take myself off for six months back-packing. I was sorely tempted as I found a round-the-world plane ticket for £5,000 - which is not an insurmountable amount of money. The only thing stopping me was my job. It wouldn't be here when I returned. Neither would Dave's.

That was a gamble I wasn't willing to take considering the current job market.

And then Rach presented me with this book to add to my collection:

FOOD: HOMEMADE CHICKEN KIEVS

Dave loves chicken kiev. We usually buy the pre-made ones but having recently read somewhere online that the chicken in chicken kievs isn't really any of the good bits of a chicken I decided to start making my own - this is the recipe I came up with. It's a lot of common sense mixed with some added extras that cater to Dave's tastes - I've explained throughout though about the different ways to do this dish so if you don't like the way Dave has his then it's still simple to make these the 'normal' way.

BOOK: BRITISH WOMEN OF NOTE - BOOKS FOR HISTORY BUFFS

I love books and I love history so when the two are combined it usually makes for great reading. Here are the five books that I can read over and over again. They're all about British women that have made an impact on Britain or have simply led very interesting lives.

DRINK: DON'T LIKE GREEN TEA? TRY THESE...

Everyone harps on about how great Green Tea is - packed full of anti-oxidants, a great alternative to caffeine, kind to the skin, used in so many great beauty products... we all know the benefits by now. The trouble is that it tastes, to a lot of people, disgusting. I know that I need at least three lumps of sugar to make it seem worthy of drinking, which that means that all that hard work the green tea is doing is going to be cancelled out by the amount of sugar I am clogging my insides with.

I've been drinking teas like this since I was old enough to be trusted with hot drinks. When I was younger I had eastern European Au-Pairs (foreign students that look after children and do the house cleaning in exchange for staying in your home, you paying for them to learn English at a college and paying them a small allowance) around me for a long time. These were the girls that introduced me to infusions and fruit teas. I've been drinking them ever since.

HOW YOUNG IS TOO YOUNG FOR MAKEUP?

After the lovely comments from my last post about Competitive Success Syndrome I've decided to start a series called 'Let's Talk' which will go live once a week on Tuesday evening. I think it's good to write about and discuss things that we can all share an opinion on. Please be aware though that I have a strong policy in place that shows zero tolerance towards bullying and trolling which means that, whilst I am all for healthy debate, should I ever encounter a comment left on one of the posts in this series that is blatantly abusive towards myself or a reader I will delete it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but there is no need to bully or berate others. Thank you.

Anyway... Back to the article in hand.
