REVIEW: MAYBELLINE 24HR COLOUR TATTOOS

Rarely has an eye product caught my attention so much as these little pots have. I have to admit that I have posted before I wanted to try them without actually having to buy them but as no samples have been forthcoming and I haven't read any reviews on them (have I missed them all?) I thought I had best bite the proverbial bullet and get my bucks out.

These pots are currently on offer at Boots as a buy-two-get-the-third-free offer (this offer also extends to the rest of the Maybelline counter so you don't have to purchase just these if you want would prefer something else). The colors that I bought were (as shown in the picture above) from left to right: 05 - Eternal Gold; 35 - On and On Bronze; 40 - Permanent Taupe.

The colors I have chosen are all within the same color spectrum as I tend to favor natural colors if I use eye shadows. I do throw some bronze or gold in there occasionally too though - hence these three were purchased. There were some beautifully brilliant and vibrant shades available in blues and purples.

As you can see above the colors are just as vibrant in shadow as they are in natural sun light with the metallic colors owning a soft and subtle shimmer. The taupe is matte which makes it an excellent contrast against the other shades. These are gel-cream eye shadows allowing them to apply smoothly and easily as well as to be simple to blend into each other. They make the perfect base for powder eye shadows too which is always a plus.

The product description boasts that these colors have a tattoo effect, lasting for 24 hours. I haven't trialed them for that length of time but let me assure you that once they are on they do not move, there is no color fall out, they do not smudge and they take a good ten seconds of soaking the eye lid with a decent make-up remover before they begin to think about budging.

I would recommend these as they're value for money and really do what they say on the advertising campaign. I think there is a lot to be said for something that actually does it's job nowadays as there are so many products on the market that claim to sing and dance but really just mumble and toe-twitch instead.

Do you own any of these products?
If so, which colors do you own?
Do you think they were good value for money?
Let me know - all comments loved and appreciated!

  1. I absolutely adore these! I've got every one available in the UK besides Eternal Gold, but now you've persuaded me to grab it next time I see it! It's such a shame we don't have the entire colour range unlike the US, the white and pomegranate are stunning! It's great to finally find an affordable high street product that does what it says on the tin. Thanks for a great review!

    1. I love the Eternal Gold - it was the first one that caught my eye and I had to have it! Its stunning! Is there no way to get the other colours shipped over? Maybe contact Maybelline and ask them if they could send you them special delivery?

  2. Ooh, I've been looking at these too!
I'm always drawn to bright colours though... even though I very rarely wear them at the moment!
I love the look of all of these, but can't decide whether I prefer the shimmery or matte colours.
    Which one is your favourite?

    1. I'm really loving the gold and bronze in equal measure. They're all really beautiful though! They're such a good product! Go buy! Go buy! You won't be disappointed!

The blue would look stunning on I think but I wouldn't get much use out of it day-to-day so it would be a waste of money for me!
